As unemployment continues to rage in Nigeria, four PhD, 200 masters degree holders have applied for the Federal Government’s Special Public Works programme

The Federal Government had earmarked 774,000 jobs, one thousand per Local government Area in the country.

The Doctorate and masters degree holders if employed will earn N20,000 per month for three months. This amounts to a paltry N60,000 for the duration of the programme.

Recently, about five million unemployed Nigerians applied for 400,000 slots in the Federal Government’s N-Power programmes under the supervision of

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Recall that the National Bureau of Statistics(NBS) recently release the June unemployment data in the country where 34.9 per cent of the over 200 million people are unemployed. This is aside the under-employment rate stands at 28.2 per cent.

The applicants with doctorate degree and masters degree are from Ogun, the Southwestern part of the country. This signifies the failure of an administration in providing jobs for its population which are employable.

Unemployment rate predates the current administration but the nation has not had it this bad since the return to democracy 21 years ago.
