
The Executive Secretary National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Dr. Iyela Ajayi, has called on states that are yet to amend their Acts in line with the NSSEC Act to do so urgently in other to enable them access NSSEC grants for the development of senior secondary education in their various state.
According to a statement made available to journalists by the Head Press & Public Relations Officer of NSSEC, Fatima Bappare , Dr. Ajayi stated this when members of the Zamfara and Kaduna states Senior Secondary Education Board paid a working visit to the headquarters of NSSEC in Abuja.
The NSSEC Boss used the occasion to reiterate the commission”s commitment towards repositioning senior secondary education in the country, while also highlighting the ongoing upgrade of over 50 senior secondary schools across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He also emphasized the need for collaboration between the Commission and State Senior Secondary Education Boards (SSSEB) in monitoring the upgrade of constituency projects in senior secondary schools nationwide.
On her part, the Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Senior Secondary Education Board Haj. Hauwa Kulu commended the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, for his commitment to education and the establishment of the State Senior Secondary Education Board, even as she sought NSSEC’s assistance in securing the Governor’s assent to the gazette of the SSSEB law in Zamfara State.
Meanwhile , the newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Senior Secondary Education Board, Dr. Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim stated that her familiarization visit is to seek and ensure proper collaboration between the State and NSSEC and reassured NSSEC of the commitment of the SSEB Kaduna in pursuing the mandate of the commission.
