The Federal Government has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of Director General, Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER) Dr. Gbadebo Smith.
This follows the expiration of the five (5) year tenure of the Director General of the Institute.
A statement by the Director, Press of the Ministry of Budget and National Planning Hassan Dodo said the extension is in accordance with the extant provision of the latest edition (2019) of the conditions of service of Federal Research and Development Agencies, Institutes and Colleges for the completion of one single term of five (5) years.
The honourable Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba while wishing the Director General a successful term in office states that the extension takes effect from 31st May, 2021.
Meanwhile, protesters Monday barricaded the entrance of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, protesting the extension of the tenure of the dr. Gbadebo Smith as the Director General of the Institute.
