
Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), has called for collaboration with the Rivers State Government to develop
the Ikpokiri Island towards the creation of wealth and employment opportunities for Rivers State and the nation at large.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), Sen. Tijjani Y. Kaura, called for the partnership when he led his management team on a courtesy visit to the Governor of Rivers State,
His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara.
Kaura lamented the opportunities lost as a result of the lack of development of the Ikpokiri Island, a virgin land since it creation in 1996. He urged the Rivers Government to take advantage of the interest of investors from Japan to invest in the island.
The OGFZA Boss said, “if the state government would take advantage of the area to support OGFZA in the development effort, Ikpokiri would become another modern city in the State”.
Responding, The Governor, siminalayi Fubura expressed concern over the East-West Road, while appreciating the OGFZA’s MD and his management for identifying with the state government and stated his willingness to collaborate with the Authority in the actualisation of the mandate.
The two executives further discussed on ways of possible collaboration and other issues of mutual interest to harness the oil and free zones potentials for economic growth.
