The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said it is forbidden by the Nigerian Communication Act (NCA) 2003 and other extant Laws of the Federation, and cannot leak or track telephone conversation of anyone.

A statement by the NCC, signed by its Director, Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka said the Commission takes the allegations seriously and have since reported to the relevant security agencies for proper investigation and necessary action.

It said the Commission cannot be seen acting contrary to the extant laws, especially the Nigerian Communication Act (NCA) 2003.

It further restates its commitment to discharge its responsibilities to the Nigerian people in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; the NCA 2003; and other extant Laws of the Federation; and global best practices.

The media space has a fortnight ago been inundated with a leaked private conversation involving the Presidential Candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi and the General Overseer of Living Faith, Dr. David Oyedepo.
