Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state effective 4pm on Tuesday (today).
Sanwo-Olu declared the curfew shortly after hoodlums who hacked the #EndSars protest burnt down a police station in Lagos.
The hoodlums had on Monday, set ablaze over 200 cars at All in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The governor said, “I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful #EndSARS protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society. Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our State.
“As a government that is alive to its responsibility and has shown a commitment to the movement #ENDSARS, we will not watch and allow anarchy in our dear state”.
The curfew takes effect from 4pm Tuesday and will expire Wednesday 21st October, 2020.
The #EndSars protesters have been on the streets of the nation, requesting an end to police brutality and human rights abuses over a long period of time.
