Honourable Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ariwoola appointment followed the resignation of Justice Muhammad Tanko who, suddenly, resigned Monday morning, on the basis of ill-health.
Justice Ariwoola appointment is subject to screening by the Senate.
Ariwoola was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2011.
His predecessor’s resignation comes amidst protest by 14 other justices bothering on poor welfare and tight conditions of service.
