
The Federal Government has lauded the German Government for Its efforts towards ensuring improvement in power transmission and distribution through the Siemen Project in Nigeria.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Engr. Nebolisa Anako, gave the commendation in Abuja when the German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Svenja Schulze, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Anako, appreciated other projects being funded by the German Government through the KFW Development Bank and the Projects Executing Agency, the German International Cooperation(GIZ).
He further commended the German government for supporting Nigeria in four priority areas, adding that these areas align with Nigeria’s National Development Plan(NDP) 2021-2025, which includes sustainable economic development, training and employment, transformation of agri-food systems, climate and energy: and health, social protection and population policy, among others.
In her remarks, the German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Svenja Schulze, commended the bilateral existing relations between both countries which dates back to 1960, and reiterated the importance of partnerships and networking between both countries to overcome the challenges of food insecurity, climate change, among others.
She also hinted on the intention of the German government to invest in social and environmentally friendliness as well as gender sensitivity in all areas of its cooporation including sustainable economic development and trade.
While both parties expressed optimism that the visit would further strengthen the bilateral relations of both countries, Shulze pointed out that Nigeria has been a strong partner in German’s Development Cooperation
