The Federal government of Nigeria has approved the appointment of Dr Abdulkarim Ali Obaje, as the National Coordinator (NC) for Federal CARES Support Unit, Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) being implemented in the 36 States of the federation and the FCT. The appointment has been endorsed by the World Bank Nigeria Office.

In the appointment letter, signed by the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, the minister noted that the appointment was based on Dr Obaje’s track record of service to previous World Bank supported programmes of the Nigerian government.

Congratulating the new Coordinator through the letter of appointment, the minister, who is also the Chairman of the NG-CARES Steering Committee, urged him to bring to bear his wealth of experience on his new assignment which he said, would justify the confidence reposed in him by the Federal government.

Receiving his appointment letter, in Abuja, Obaje appreciated the Federal Government and the Minister of State for finding him worthy of such highly esteemed national assignment.

He therefore pledged, to discharge his duties with all sense of commitment, patriotism and loyalty.

Dr. Obaje is currently the National Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) and brings on board over twenty years of work experience with public service and development partners.

The NG-CARES is an initiative of the Federal government of Nigeria with assistance from the World Bank to mitigate the effect of COVID-19 on the rural economy using CSDP, Fadama and Bank of Industry platforms.
