The Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Dr. Ezra Yakusat has urged Nigerians to embrace the export efforts for the growth and development of the economy.

Yakusat said this in Abuja during a sensitisation walk, with the theme “Export4Survival,” aimed at creating awareness on the importance of export, also said the export of products, is the way for economic survival.

The Export Promotion boss referred to the export of products as an emergency.

“If we want economic empowerment, foreign exchange, poverty alleviation, we need to export.

“That is the way to go. Export for Survival is an emergency call for all Nigerians to export.”

He furthered affirmed the ongoing partnership with other agencies for the creation of Legal and Institutional Framework for Geographical Indications for export products.

Also speaking, Francis Duru, a Nollywood actor, commended NEPC for the new initiative, noting that Nigeria’s over-reliance on oil has done more harm than good for economic development.

Also speaking, another Nollywood actor, Ejike Asiegbu, underscored the need for Nigeria to harness its abundant human and material resources to defeat the poverty plaguing the country.
