The Bawop, Kakwagom communities have been thrown into confusion as devastating wind storm has destroyed everything on its path.

According to the Chairman of the entire  Bawop Community, Mr Simon Bankong, the wind storm started at about 2:30pm  on Tuesday,  31st May 2022, when pupils and students were returning from school.

He said “On my way from the farm to go and pick up the children from school the heavy wind just started and within a few minutes it started pulling down trees, roofs and houses rendering residents homeless within seconds”.

Another eyewitnes Patrick Nku Eran explained that the rain itself wasn’t much but the devastation the wind storm left behind has never been seen before in recent years.

He said some people houses were completely brought down  ground and such people are now rendered homeless.
Mr Eran explained that from their preliminary assessment those affected are going to be needing building materials such as roofing sheets, cement, wood, nails, blocks amongst others.

They are however calling on the Federal Government Agencies,  well meaning individuals and NGO’s to  come and carry out a proper assessment of the damage  and possibly provide relief materials to those affected by the devastating wind storm.

As at the time of filing in this report no casualties have been recorded.
