The presidential task force on the control of Covid-19 wants the House of Representatives to develop a legislative framework to prepare Nigeria for any future Pandemic
The chairman of the PTF Boss Mustapha who said this when he appeared before the house at Tuesday plenary also task the house on developing a legislative framework for reforming and transforming the nation’s healthcare syste
Last week at the emergency plenary session held by the house of representatives,one of the resolutions was that the chairman PTF Boss Mustapha, the minister of health Dr Osagie Ehanire appear before the house to brief members on the fight against covid-19.
Appearing before the house Tuesday at plenary chairman presidential task force on the control of covid-19 Boss Mustapha said there is urgent need to revamp the nation’s healthcare system.
He said most of the challenges faced by the task force in the fight against covid-19 is lack of adequate spaces, man power, state of the art medical facilities amongst others
Boss Mustapha also appeal to the house to put legislation in place that will further ease the ability of the executive to implement policies that will cushion the effect of the pandemic on Nigerians
Earlier in his address the speaker of the house Femi Gbajabiamila expressed displeasure over the recent uproar against the infectious diseases bill which the house passed into second reading last week
The speaker said the bill is necessary as there is no timeline on when the covid-19 pandemic will end
The house had resolved last week to sit once every week .
