The Association of Ordained Priests (AOP), under the aegis of Mezie Imo Clergy have awarded a philanthropist per excellence, Hon Chika Okoroike with the status of the best Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman in Imo state.
The award followed the empathy shown by Hon. Okoroike when he built from scratch to finish a befitting flat and handed over to a widow Mrs Emilia Obilor, whose house was failing apart.
The clergies described the empathy by Mr. okoroike as distinguishing, a pathway to being Christlike who had compassion on people and fed and healed them.
Hon. Okoroike has several embarked on ambitious road rehabilitation efforts such as along Anara/Umuahia , in Osu land before it was taken over by FERMA, and Amaraku to douse clannish bigots.
In sports, Okoroike’s love for the youths led him to invest in grooming future football stars, to don the national colours while also plying their football trade nationally and globally.
This feat has attracted sponsorship of zonal football tournament to Imo North bankrolled by the Chief Executive Officer of NEPAD, DR. Princess Akobundu, while the ex-super Eagles player , Kanu Nwankwo, was on ground for a talent hunt in Isiala Mbano LGA.
Through several empowerment programmes, with the support of his wife Uchenna Okoroike, who is also an emblem of humanitarianism,
HON Chika Okoroike has served as a bridge that connects grassroots and Government.
Regarded as a man set aside for great feats, he ranks as a champion in human capital development among 60 aides. Meanwhile, women and youths call him ‘ Oguguo Akwa Oha”, loosely translated as ‘The handkerchief that wipes tears’.
It is said, the reward for hard work is more work. With this, it is safe to say if Hon. Chika Okoroike has this far performed as an interim, when he is confirmed as fulltime?.
