The outgoing Minister of Budget and National Planning and the Co-chair, State Actor, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba said Nigeria has risen to become one of the champions of Open Government Partnership through implementation of policies and collaboration with other stakeholders.
The Minister said this Thursday in Abuja at an event organized to mark the commencement of National Action Plan (NAP III).
Agba appreciated the leadership of the national steering committees to advance the cause of the open government.
He also appreciated OGP Nigeria for lofty achievements which includes among others an app known as Eyemark, Website, News Letter which were all launched.
Other areas of achievements listed includes improved open beneficial ownership transparency in Nigeria; improved budget transparency in Nigeria; improved procurement and contracting in Nigeria; improved the freedom of information experience in Nigeria and improved tools for citizen participation in project evaluation through the EyeMark.
Delivering his farewell speech virtually, the Chief Executive Officer, Open Government Partnership (OGP), Sanjay pradhan expressed incredible gratitude and appreciation for the Minister’s extraordinary handling of the OGP, while also acknowledging his valuable leadership at domestic, regional and international levels of OGP.
Pradhan mentioned Beneficial Ownership Transparency as one of the noteworthy achievement of the outgoing Minister in Nigeria OGP. He further thanked him for his active participation in the leadership of regional conference.
Prince Clem Agba temporarily handed over the Co-chair of the OGP Secretariat to the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Garba Abubakar, pending the assumption of office of the outgoing Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare.
