The APC Legacy Awareness and Campaign, a voluntary think-tank group of the governing party, has said that the world has unequivocally recognised President Muhammadu Buhari as a global climate action leader and champion.

In a statement, the group stated that President Buhari’s engagements and pronouncements at the Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow Scotland has attested to the fact that he has demonstrated enough commitment to address the issue of climate change in the country.

The APC Lagacy Awareness Campaign also stated that testimonials from American billionaire Jeff Bezos whose “Earth Fund” has set aside $10 billion to support projects tackling climate change is a confirmation that the APC led administration is indeed a leading force to reckon with in the climate action movement.

The voluntary think-tank group which comprises of Salihu Muhammed Lukman,Tolu Ogunlesi,Lanre Issa-Onilu and Bar.Ismaeel Ahmed noted that the 2022 Federal Budget currently being considered by the National Assembly is the first climate-responsive budget in the history of the country.

The group further revealed that since 2020, the Federal Government had launched a Solar Power Naija project that is being implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency.

It further affirmed that the project would electrify 5 million households and 25 million Nigerians using off-grid solar power,as well as support the creation of a quarter of a million jobs in the energy sector for Nigerians.
