….. Dethrone Chiefs Involved In Cultists Related Activities Immediately

All cultists taking refuge in Bawop/Kakwagom communities in Boki Local Government of Cross River State have been directed to leave or be forced out of the communities with immediate effect.

This directive was contained in a communique issued at the end of the peace committee meeting of Kakwagom and Bawop communities held Tuesday, 12th October 2021 at the Holy Trinity parish Abakpa ogoja to resolve the cult clash that left two deaths on the 3rd Oct 2021.

According to the communique, After an extensive deliberation, the remote and immediate cause of the dispute was established as purely cult related activities and outlaws.

Other resolutions arrived at during the meeting are that both communities are ready and willing to work for the restoration of the broken relationship through forgiveness, reconciliation and peace.

They also urge the communities to make strong laws against cult related activities and ensure that members are made to pay a fine as agreed by Ochibe Bokyi or such defaulters shall be ostracised from the community.

emphasizing that the composition of vigilante group should include only men of proven integrity with recommendation from the chiefs as this will help return sanity in the communities, stating that all chiefs who are known to be involved with cultism be dethroned immediately.

They reiterated that on no condition should Bawop and Kakwagom raise up arms against each other no matter the level of provocation as defaulters shall be punished accordingly by a decision of both communities.

As they urgently called for the immediate removal of all roadblocks in both communities.

On those whose properties were destroyed during the crisis period, it was agreed that the elites of both communities contribute to rebuild the houses.

The communities have also been mandated to make laws to regulate the burial vigils as most times cultists take advantage of this events to unleash terror.

They seriously frown at those who take it upon themselves to Peddle false rumours noting that those found wanting will be heavily penalised.

They used the occasion to commend HRH OTUSHUA JB OGAR CLAN Head of Isobendeghe, the DPO Boki, Priests and other stakeholders over the formation of the Peace committee.

A date for a joint meeting of kakwagom and Bawop to be hosted by either of the communities shall be communicated very shortly, this is aimed at strengthening peaceful coexistence between the communities.

The paramount ruler of Boki, the clan heads of Isobendeghe, Nsadop, Kakwagom, and Bawop Communities, the DPO Boki , Priest, Pastors, Youths and Women leaders, community chairmen and their Exco and opinion leaders.
