Five out of the seven senators who voted against electronic transmission of results have been nominated by the President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan to meet with the House of Representatives team to iron out the contentious aspects of the Electoral Act (amendment) Bill.

The senators namely Senate Leader, Abdullahi Yahaya, Kabiru Gaya, Ajibola Basiru, Sani Musa all voted against the ame5 Senators Against Electronic Transmission Of Result Now In Electoral Act amendment Conference Committee of the Electoral Act Bill which seeks the eliminate massive rigging of results.

Senator Mathew Urhoghide is the only senator who was bold enough to vote for the use of technology in the transmission of results from polling units to the central database of INEC, while Senator Uche Ekwenife was absent on the date of the voting when there was a division on the issue.

The hope of the electorates who have consistently yearn for a more transparent means in the transmission of result was dampened by majority of senators.

Despite the joint committee of the National Assembly, some Nigerians are still sceptical that the outcome of the committee might not reflect the yearnings and aspirations of the masses who are tired of the same old story everyday.
